School Visits
One of the most valuable resources for children learning about the world of work, is to meet real people in real jobs. Our Career Days (six in the Premium Package and three in the Deluxe Package) are designed to take the stress away from educators as we will do all of the planning for you. All you need to do is set aside a minimum of 30 minutes with your students and we’ll do the rest!
Our bank of community workers will be available to visit your students, talk about their jobs, show some tools and equipment they use, and answer any questions that might come up during the session.
Through these Career Days, your students’ awareness of people in their own communities will increase, as well as their understanding of the skills and interests needed for certain occupations.
LESSON PLANS
Our award-winning Ontario Curriculum-based lesson plans are designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 and are ideal for use in classroom settings (both in-person and virtual). These versatile tools cover multiple areas of the curriculum such as Career Planning, Social Studies and Language.
With each lesson plan that is undertaken, students will expand their knowledge of the world around them, and start to piece together how various job roles connect.
Most importantly, students will learn that jobs are for everyone, no matter your gender, race, age or economic background. By using they/them pronouns while discussing the illustrations, children will be prevented from developing biases around gender roles at work, thus enabling them to keep their options open.
For educators in the UK or outside of Ontario, we have digital OPUS Cards for use in classroom settings, as well as a stack of printable activities suitable for ages 3-7.
